This week’s theme is to move away from identity-making and towards research interests. After watching the Grad Studies Writing Workshop, I’ve thought deeply about what interests me and what it does. I scribbled down some initial thoughts, and they are:

  • Diversification in STEAM

  • Unpack intention vs. impact in performative allyship - accountable spaces vs. safe spaces

  • The uprise of toxic social injustice and where do we go from here?

  • The non-binary identity and feelings of invalidation

  • Gorilla research methods, dismantling systemic approaches, and anti-oppressive citation practices

  • Anti-oppressive yoga curriculum for early childhood education

  • Beyond the post-it note: design methods and creative processes from the most innovative countries vs. developing countries - does this relate to STEAM maker labs?

I hopped in the shower after these notes and realized I missed my interest in social media algorithms and how they favour popularity leaving the outsiders, the 20%, at the edge. What if we made a social media app for children to use in their classrooms that conditions them to know and love their uniqueness, their intersectionality? An app that reverses the social media algorithms and is like the Inverted Wordle that Jutta had shared with us? This is a social experiment I would LOVE to explore!
